Puts no trust in psychics

Regarding the article "Psychic brought in to help find missing man" (Thousand Oaks Acorn, Jan. 25): As a skeptic of unproven supernatural claims, I am often asked, "What harm is there in believing that 'psychic power' is real?" Well, in this case, valuable law enforcement resources were wasted on a wild goose chase, the family's hard-earned $1,000 is now in the psychic's pocket, and Jeffrey Howard is still missing.

His distraught father asks, "What else could we do? We don't have any other clues." My sober advice: Don't compound your tragedy by throwing away valuable dollars as well as your common sense.
