Global warming is mostly hot air from environmentalists It's truly interesting to read the letters to the T.O. Acorn regarding global warming. Of course they are written by people who believe Al Gore invented the Internet and don't realize he financed his movie with money from big tobacco. In the last million years there have been about 600 periods of global warming, followed by a cooling trend. Now the contemporary global warming enthusiasts may believe that Neanderthals drove around in Hummers, thereby refusing to accept that global warming is a natural cycle that occurs about every 150 years. The evidence is overwhelming. A thousand years ago the Vikings grew vegetables in Greenland. A hundred years later they were frozen out. Wine grapes were grown in England 1,000 years ago before the cold set in. Again they grew wine grapes 500 years ago then along came the cold again. It is not yet warm enough in England to grow wine grapes but it's getting close. It's true some glaciers are melting, but no faster than they've done in the past 100 years. Many others are growing in size, particularly in Norway. The outer edge of the polar ice caps is retreating while inland the ice is becoming more dense. The same with Greenland. People with open minds might think the next cooling trend is about to begin. Ten thousand scientists signed on to a statement two years ago to the effect that global warming is a myth. Our own hurricane expert in this country agreed and now he's in political exile. The Weather Channel wants to pull the meteorologist credentials of anyone on their staff who doesn't endorse the current theory of manmade global warming. The problem is their entire staff would have to go. Here's a hint. Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant. It is a necessity for all life forms. It does not cause global warming.
