Westlake Village Junior Women's Club donates $10,000 to Many Mansions

HEAD START- Candi James and Marlene Schwartz from the Westlake Village Junior Women's Club present a check to Tracy Miller of Many Mansions. The money will help fund a teen internship program for Many Mansions, which helps provide lower cost housing for low-income residents.
The Westlake Village Junior Women's Club members presented a $10,000 check to Tracy Miller, development director for Many Mansions, during a general meeting last month. The donation will fund the establishment of a summer Teen Internship program for students ages 14 to 18.

Designed to link teens and businesses, the program will provide internship opportunities that will expose teens to a variety of future employment and educational prospects, teach them marketable skills and give them experience in a professional work environment.

The club raised $50,000 during the 2006 fiscal year, according to a club spokesperson. Fourteen local organizations will receive a share.

The Westlake Village Junior Women's Club is a nonprofit organization open to women from the greater Conejo Valley area. The group raises money for local charities and volunteers for Meals on Wheels, Feed the Hungry and others. For more information, visit www.westlakejuniors.org.
