PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC- New West Symphony maestro Boris Brott directs guest musician Charlie Gayle, 9, a Red Oak Elementary School third-grader, to play a bird call during the Symphonic Adventure Student Concert at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza last week. More than 10,000 Ventura County third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students from 50 schools attended the performances that introduced children to classical music and the instruments of orchestras.
