New president takes helm at Senior Concerns Carol Freeman of Thousand Oaks, former chief executive officer of the Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital, has been appointed president of Senior Concerns, a nonprofit social service agency serving frail and special needs seniors and their caregiver families in Ventura and western Los Angeles counties since 1975. Freeman replaced Sandra Bishop, who recently left Senior Concerns to assume management responsibilities at Ventura County Food Share Inc. "Carol has just the right mix of operating management, strategic planning and staff administration successes necessary for the continued growth of Senior Concerns," said board chair Karen Lindsey. "In addition, she will benefit from her recent experience as a member of our board of directors and vice chair. We can look forward to Carol's demonstrated leadership as we plan to broaden our varied services and extend our geographical reach in the years ahead." Freeman had served as chief administrator of the Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital during its startup years from 200306. Previously, she was chief operating officer/administrator at the University of Southern California Norris Cancer Hospital and chief executive officer of the San Leandro Hospital and Huntington Beach Hospital. Starting at Los Robles Regional Hospital and Medical Center in Thousand Oaks when it opened in 1968, Freeman served in various clinical and administrative positions with responsibilities as director of nursing, director of education, associate administrator and vice president of strategic planning. As Senior Concerns president, Freeman will manage an operating budget of more than $1.7 million this year. For more information about Senior Concerns, call (805) 497-0189. |
