Two Thousand Oaks water polo players honored

The Southern California high school water polo awards banquet was held on Sun., Jan. 14, at the Knott's Berry Farm Resort Hotel in Buena Park.

Several local players, in addition to being named to the All-CIF Division IV first team, were selected to the AllSouthern California team and to the CaliforniaHawaii AllAmerican squad.

The selections were determined by coaches returning ballots from 32 participating CIF teams.

Making the Southern California team were Agoura High's Peter Kurzeka and Alex Thompson, Royal High's Blake Hubbell and Tyler McClure, Thousand Oaks High's Daniel Smith and Ryan Vick, and Oaks Christian's Ryan Balikian.

Kurzeka, Hubbell, Balikian, McClure and Smith were also named to the California-Hawaii squad.
