Traffic signal unnecessary in front of library

What is the city of Thousand Oaks thinking about? They're about to install a traffic light at Janss Road and the library. The fixtures are already there; they just need to finish it, I guess.

I don't believe a traffic light is warranted there. I've never seen an accident there or even seen the aftermath of an accident--you know, the occasional glass that's left behind and the sand to cover any engine fluid spills. That's usually the only reason they install a light.

The only other reason would be the excess flow of traffic.

When did they do their traffic study--on a Saturday during soccer season when everyone was trying to leave there at once? Or possibly during the Conejo Valley Days carnival? That's the only time that I can see where a light would really be helpful.

Otherwise, it's just that people can't drive well enough to turn left or right out of the library/senior center driveway.

Oops, maybe I shouldn't go there, but maybe it's those seniors that requested a light to help them cross the street. Or does someone's money talk?

If any more lights are to be installed, they should look at places where it would be appropriate.

We don't need more lights, we need better drivers.
