Make-A-Wish Foundation needs donations for kids

The MakeAWish Foundation of the TriCounties is an organization that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

According to Johanna Burlingham, development and marketing manager, the local foundation has a staff of four and more than 80 volunteers.

"The MakeAWish Foundation of the TriCounties is celebrating nearly 800 heartfelt wishes granted to children in Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties," said Burlingham.

She also suggested ways to help the foundation and the children it serves, such as transferring airline miles or donating cars, securities or cash and having it matched by an employer or club; volunteering; organizing fundraisers; or collecting items for the Kids for Wish Kids project.

Kids for Wish Kids items include large photo albums to use as scrapbooks for memories, journals to document memories of the wish, disposable flash cameras, handheld video games with batteries, backpacks or travel bags, activity books and crayons, cards and other travel games, gift certificates and gift wrapping supplies.
