Conejo Valley Days Parade background Beginning in 1947, a community parade celebrated the Conejo Valley's pioneer heritage. +1947: "AllDay Circus" parade held at Jungleland +1949: "Circus Days" parade from Conejo School Road to Jungleland +1950: "Stagecoach Days" parade and Whiskerino contest +1952: "Pioneer Days" parade and event with food booths, carnival rides, bands and a contest for queen +1955-1964: "Honorary Mayor Day." Among the honorary mayors for a day were world-famous tiger trainer Mabel Stark, who worked at Jungleland, and actor Ward Bond from "Wagon Train," filmed in the Conejo Valley. +1960: "Honorary Mayor Race" had contestants competing for the title of Honorary Mayor by raising money for charities. +1965: Once the city was incorporated in 1965, there was an elected mayor, so the Chamber of Commerce took over and made a four-day celebration called "Conejo Valley Days," with a "Grand Marshal Race" replacing the "Honorary Mayor Race." +1995: A group of community service leaders formed the Conejo Valley Activities Corporation, a nonprofit group that volunteered to take responsibility for organizing the current annual Conejo Valley Days event. Currently, 26 nonprofit service organizations serve on the CVAC board. Some CVD traditions include Tiny Tots Pageant, Grand Marshal Race, Whiskeroo Contest, Kick-off Picnic and Chili Cook-off.
