Roy Brasher
Realtor Roy Brasher turned his life toward helping others avoid the type of behavior that left him the victim of a drunken driving accident. The car crash mangled his body- he has partially recovered from injuries that left him a quadriplegic- but his heart remained intact, opening even wider.
Brasher believes that a Christian education is the best deterrent to a bad lifestyle. He wants to help young people see the importance of learning responsible behavior. Toward that end, over the last 14 years he has raised more than $500,000 to help worthy students. This year he helped raise $76,000, and his goal for 2008 is $100,000.
Brasher raises funds through a number of events and for various causes: Newbury Park Adventist Academy Golf Tournament and Raffle, which collected funds to provide an education to about 40 to 60 students per year; Conejo Adventist Elementary School jog-athon, held for five years, raised $32,000, with aid awarded to students of any faith; and the Linda Vista Adventist Elementary School jog-athon, held for the first time this year. It will provide 100 percent of the funds needed to educate children of any faith.
Brasher believes that he has been enriched by the work he has done to enhance the lives of people in the community. He can be found working as a Realtor for ReMax Olson in the San Fernando Valley.
