Rubbish hauler to take extra trash

Due to the Christmas and New Year's holidays, Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park customers of Newbury Disposal who normally have their trash and recycling or green waste collected Tuesday through Friday will have them collected one day later than usual both weeks. Service will remain the same for customers whose collection day is Monday.

The regular collection schedule will resume the week of Jan. 6.

Residents may put out twice the amount of trash at no extra charge during the two weeks following Christmas. Extra trash must be bagged. Extra recyclables will also be collected; boxes should be flattened.

Christmas trees can be recycled in the yard waste barrel. Customers should remove the ornaments, hooks, lights, tinsel, bows, nails and tree stand and cut the tree into sections no longer than 4 feet before placing the tree in the barrel. Flocked trees can't be recycled.
