Take the train to buy tree, visit Santa

The Fillmore & Western Christmas Tree Train will chug through Ventura County's Heritage Valley until Dec. 23. Guests can select and cut down their own Christmas trees and bring the trees back on the train.

Trains depart at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets are $22 for adults, $20 for seniors age 60 and up, $12 for children ages 4 to 12 and $8 for children from infancy through 3 years old.

The North Pole Express trains go to the "North Pole" to pick up Santa. Storytellers dressed as elves will tell stories and serve chocolate milk and cookies. Children are encouraged to wear their pajamas and bring a stuffed toy. Santa will be onboard to visit the children.

The North Pole Express runs Wednesday through Sunday through Dec. 23 from 6 to 7 p.m. and 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The cost is $24 for adults, $15 for children ages 3 to 12. Infants and children up to age 2 are free.
