Church's tree planting project is thriving
People of faith are becoming more environmentally conscious
      Tom Sisulak smiles when locals refer to him as their own "Johnny Appleseed." He considers it a compliment and a calling. When Sisulak noticed many trees in his tree-filled hometown were starting to die, he sounded an environmental call to arms. He asked his United Methodist church to help.

United Methodist announces times for season's special services
      United Methodist Church of Thousand Oaks will host a number of special services this month for the Advent/Christmas season. During Advent, the Rev. Steve Peralta, the church's pastor, will preach a sermon series on "Better Days" which will include "Joy" on Dec. 16 and "Salvation" on Dec. 23.

Christmas Eve TV special to be broadcast from New York
      CBS and the National Council of Churches will celebrate Christmas Eve with a TV special at Marble Collegiate Church, the nation's oldest Protestant ministry and historic landmark in New York City. The nationwide broadcast, produced by MarbleVision in cooperation with the NCC, is scheduled for 11:30 p.m. PST on Mon., Dec. 24 on participating CBS stations.

Seniors socialize at temple
      The Greatest Generation is a social group for nonmembers and members age 60 and up that meets from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Temple Social Hall of Temple Adat Elohim, 2420 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. The group provides refreshments, entertainment and the opportunity to socialize with new and old friends.
