Open space should stay serene, kept for passive use
      I read with great interest the Acorn article about the Tierra Rejada Valley greenbelt that's between Thousand Oaks, Moorpark and Simi Valley. A meeting was held between the 15 city council members to discuss land uses in this greenbelt.

No matter what, some people are just plain selfish
      Oh, how I hate the mouthwatering aroma of a summer barbecue, the sound of people's laughter enjoying the great outdoors. It really eats at me knowing people are temporarily leaving behind life's worries for just a short time by enjoying other's company and interacting with others in our community.

      In response to the "Rules must be interpreted fairly" letter from Sheri Hancock in the Nov. 8 Thousand Oaks Acorn , would you be happier if the school principal said the rules of no weapons at school were only for poorer students who weren't beautiful?

Adults in positions of authority must set good examples
      In response to Amy and Ron Ballen's letter defending Principal Jeff Rickert of University Elementary School over the October ducttaping episode, I admire their loyalty, but they missed the point. I'm sure Mr. Rickert is an upstanding citizen, a nurturing educator with the best intentions for his students.
