Police achieved a successful ending to a four-hour standoff Sunday: They talked a 46yearold allegedly suicidal man into coming out of his home and giving himself up. No one was injured.

The standoff began around 4 p.m. on what had started out as a peaceful afternoon. A call came in warning of a man who was going in and out of his home with a handgun threatening to shoot himself.

Police set up a perimeter around the house in the 3000 block of Rikkard Drive. The SWAT team and a team of hostage negotiators were called.

After the negotiators spoke with the man, he came out and turned himself over to police at about 8:15 p.m.

He was taken to the county mental health facility, said Capt. Rick Barrios, watch commander.
