CVU Pride finishing strong
      The Conejo Valley United Blue Pride U-19 girls' soccer team guaranteed itself a tie for first place in the Gold division of the Coast Soccer League (CSL) by winning its last eight games. The Gold division is the second-highest division in the CSL, with only the Premier division being higher.

Ventura County Bombers hit their target
     BOMBS AWAY- The Ventura County Bombers, a U-10 baseball team with members from Moorpark, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks and Ventura, won the Mustang Division at the Simi Valley Youth Baseball Halloween Tournament. The Bombers went 4-0 in the tournament, defeating the Centurions in the championship game. Team members include Conner Chapman, Parker Dubreuil, Jimmy Friery, Miles Melamed, Ryan Moerer, Matt Roth, Eric Schaefer, Patrick Valdez, Jordan Vega, Jake Whipple and Colton Wilson. Mike Dubreuil, Jim Friery, Dean Schaefer and Pat Valdez were the coaches.

      Brenna Deters takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. She then imagines the target and hitting the center. Drawing the bow back, Deters steadies herself before releasing the trigger. Bull's-eye. A 13-year-old seventh-grader at La Reina Middle School, Deters is quickly developing into a standout archer.

Westlake gets past Millikan

      It wasn't easy, but the Westlake High girls' volleyball team got the job done. On Tuesday night, in the opening round of the CIFSouthern Section Division IAA playoffs, the Warriors defeated Millikan in five hardfought games (19-25, 25-16, 25-17, 21-25 and 15-9).
