Reader continues to share her vision of a skating center

We need a bus stop in front of the former Kmart so children who don't drive can get there, like the one at the Teen Center. This can help mom if she works and is too busy. In this way, the children can be with their friends having fun and skating.

Remember, all children do not participate in sports, and they need to keep their legs strong, which pumps blood to their hearts.

It's my opinion that high blood pressure and diabetes are on the rise in our children. It's because of their diets and sedentary lifestyle, which includes TV, video games and computers.

They need to have fun exercising. This will keep their lymph systems moving and cleansing their bodies, which will keep their defense systems strong.

Instead of soft drinks, we could have a juice bar, fresh and dried fruit, popcorn and nuts for snacks.

In my experience, since I was a nutritional counselor and teacher at a wellness center, diabetes isn't caused by the overconsumption of sugar.

It's caused by the overconsumption of fat, which destroys the insulin-producing glands in the pancreas. Once these glands are useless, then insulin won't be available to metabolize the sugar, and then diabetes may occur.

I feel that the most beneficial fat is in raw nuts and seeds, which also provide a good source of protein. If eaten correctly, fruit will help children lose weight.

Skating will keep them strong, and beautiful music will soothe their nervous systems.

A less expensive idea would be to have two separate rinks, one roller and one ice, with a very thick insulated wall separating them. This would prevent the ice from melting near the end next to the roller rink, and each rink could have different music.

I'm excited about having a Skating Palace in T.O.

City Council: let's accentu-ate the positive and spread joy to all our children and adults!

Impossible vision?

I don't think so. Kristal Watters Thousand Oaks
