Environmentalist again exaggerates
It still amazes me that anyone other than an extremist environmental deviant takes Mary Wiesbrock of Save Open Space seriously. Having served on COSCA for four years, I have a reasonably good understanding of the natural preservation of Rancho Potrero, not to mention decades of running and biking in this beautiful preserve.

Save Open Space assumes people are ignorant
In the Oct. 24 Thousand Oaks Acorn , Save Open Space (SOS) ran another of its hit-piece ads, designed to inflame the community it represents with exaggerated predictions of doom and gloom for a Rancho Potrero plan not yet finalized, again with no evidence to support its assertions.

Opposed to the party pavilion
The Rancho Potrero property has had a complicated and controversial history since it was purchased by the city and Conejo Recreation and Park District (CRPD) in the 1990s.

There should be exceptions to every rule
Last September our son, who attended Los Cerritos Middle School, made the mistake of leaving his Boy Scout pocketknife in his backpack. He was in the school band and would enter the grounds an hour early every day to fulfill his P.E. requirement.

Events shouldn't set bad examples
I enjoy reading the T.O. Acorn to hear what's happening in the community. In the Oct.11 issue, there was an article and picture titled "A sticky situation." Apparently as part of a fundraising event at University Elementary School, the students were rewarded by duct taping the principal, Jeff Rickert, to a pole.

Conservatives have no monopoly on common sense
I read the letter by Danielle Cross in the T.O. Acorn regarding society's moral decay with amusement and disgust (Oct. 25, "Parents should stop staying quiet about the issues.") Her thinly veiled attempt to lay the roots of that moral decay at the feet of "the liberals" is enough to make me sick.

Do stupid smokers ever learn?
I ramped onto the 23 Freeway tonight at 8:30 p.m. just in time to see a driver flick a live cigarette out the window, just a half-mile southbound of the Avenida de Los Arboles exit. Then, 90 minutes later, again just half a mile up the northbound side of the 23 Freeway from Avenida de Los Arboles, I witnessed the same thing.

Fed up with falsehoods about fluoride
In response to Christine Robert's letter in the Oct.16 T.O. Acorn ("Opposes fluoride in tap water"), with all due respect, Ms. Robert, if you choose to sound the alarm of hazards associated with fluoride use in drinking water, please do a quick fact check.

Reader continues to share her vision of a skating center
We need a bus stop in front of the former Kmart so children who don't drive can get there, like the one at the Teen Center. This can help mom if she works and is too busy. In this way, the children can be with their friends having fun and skating.

Faith in God saved her life
This is in response to the letters written by Chris Habecker disputing God's power through His word, the Bible. There is evidence that cannot be disputed. That's a changed life. I happen to be one who was enslaved to drugs and alcohol and was set free by the power of Christ.
