Redevelopment agency to get report card
How millions of dollars are being spent and whether or not goals have been reached will be discussed by the City Council next week at its Nov. 6 meeting.
A public hearing on the midterm report- which covers 2004 to 2009- is supposed to explain how the redevelopment is going for the city, specifically on Thousand Oaks Boulevard and Newbury Road.
City staff will present statistics on the millions of dollars spent on affordable housing, including information about the 154 units from fiscal year 200405 and the 153 units in 2006-07. There were no units added in 2005-06.
The city report will also include capital improvement projects. Among those projects are improvements to coincide with the Thousand Oaks Boulevard Specific Plan that members of the city's staff are currently working on with some of the business owners on the boulevard. The plan, yet to be presented to the City Council, includes highrise mixed-use buildings on Thousand Oaks Boulevard. The city has set aside $1 million for the improvements.
The report also notes the $2.3 million the city redevelopment funds provided to The Lakes and $179,000 that went to the Arroyo Conejo bike/ greenbelt project, senior planner Nellie Jasso said.
There are currently no projects moving forward in the Newbury Road development project, but $2.1 million has been set aside for storm drains and $1 million for the preservation of the historic Timber School.
