Maple Elementary students and staff 'Make-A-Wish' come true for local boy

Six-year-old Christopher Harmon of Thousand Oaks and his family recently flew to Orlando, Fla., to visit Walt Disney World Resort along with 26 other children and Make-A-Wish staff as part of American Airlines' 12th annual WishFlight.

The children and their families participated in several events, including a bon voyage party at LAX, a welcome party in Orlando and a special celebration at Give Kids The World Village in Kissimmee, Fla., where the children spent the week.

Christopher has ALL (Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia), and his wish was adopted by Maple Elementary PFA.

Businesses, organizations and individuals making a cash donation of $5,000 to Make-A-Wish may publicly adopt a wish. Maple school hosted a jog-athon to raise the funds.

The MakeAWish Foundation grants the wishes of children with lifethreatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
