Doom displays are open

Looking for some thrills during the Halloween season? Want to get that blood pumping so Dracula can easily gorge himself on your jugular vein? Look no further.

Here are three sites just a short drive from home that will scare the wits out of you:

Things won't be good for the weak-hearted at 1696 Wellington Place in Westlake Village. From 6 to 9 p.m. on Halloween, Wed., Oct. 31, the Marshall family will offer a walk-through.

The Sander family promises to be "little-kid friendly" but they're looking for some older children and teenagers "for our enjoyment." (They didn't say why, but it didn't sound promising for the older crowd.) The Sanders have been scaring people for 12 years at 410 Pacific Circle in Newbury Park. If you don't make it, they'll bury you on site, whether you're breathing or not.

In Thousand Oaks, Ron Ballen has a bone to pick with you. In fact, he has more skeletons than a medical school. The Bone Yard is at 8 Summerfield St., on the corner of Mountclef and Summerfield, one block north of Avenida de Los Arboles.

By the way, don't miss Bruce Stanton's display. See details in his advertisement on page 14.
