De Jesus commits to S.F. State
      Westlake High senior pitcher Ryan De Jesus has made a verbal commitment to play baseball at San Francisco State. During his junior season for the Warriors, De Jesus, a 6foot2, 175-pound left-hander, was 1-2 with a 3.41 ERA in 28.2 innings of work. He struck out 14 batters and walked seven.

TOHS volleyball team red-hot
      No team in the county is playing better volleyball than the Thousand Oaks High girls' squad. With a four-game win at Simi Valley Tuesday, the Lancers improved their overall record to 16-1. TOHS is 9-0 and in first place in the Marmonte League. They've lost only six games all year.

Marmonte golfers back in the swing of things
     IRIS SMOOT/Acorn Newspapers LIFTOFF- Newbury Park's Katelyn Barrett hits a chip shot during last week's first Marmonte League Tournament at Simi Hills Golf Course. Westlake won the eight-team event with a total team score of 211. Agoura (218) finished second, followed by Royal (219), Newbury Park (224), Simi Valley (224), Moorpark (256), Thousand Oaks (279) and Calabasas (298). Today at noon at Los Robles Greens Golf Course in Thousand Oaks, the teams will compete in the second of four league tournaments.

NPHS junior running back Chris Brown does it all
      Chris Brown is old school. Whereas many high school athletes these days tend to focus their attention toward a single sport, Brown, a 17yearold junior at Newbury Park High, wants to try them all. A basketball player by nature, Brown didn't start playing tackle football until his freshman season at Trabuco Hills High in Mission Viejo.
