Gretzky sale benefits Oaks Christian
      Wayne and Janet Gretzky will hold an estate sale to benefit Oaks Christian School at 7 a.m. Sat., Oct. 27 at the school's Bedrosian Pavilion, 31749 La Tienda Drive in Westlake Village. All proceeds will go toward the construction of a new baseball stadium at the school and various programs at nearby Carden Conejo School.

      The 12th District PTA's Program Night will be at 7 p.m. tonight, Thurs., Oct. 8 at the Ventura County Office of Education, 5100 Adolfo Road, Camarillo. Professionals in the fields of child nutrition, health, fitness and safety will speak.

T.O. woman graduates from Johns Hopkins
      Hana Chang of Thousand Oaks graduated from The Johns Hopkins University this spring. Chang is the daughter of Byeong Seon Chang. She majored in biomedical engineering.

An Alpha Chi achiever
     HONORED- Azusa Pacific student Kyle Brooks, right, a 2005 Hillcrest Christian School alumnus, is inducted into Alpha Chi, the National College Honor Scholarsip Society. Alpha Chi members are in the top 10 percent of college students and are elected by faculty to the scholarship society. Brooks, shown here with a friend, is majoring in philosophy with minors in Greek and psychology. Brooks will study at Oxford next spring and plans to attend seminary following graduation.

Free training available for ESL tutors
      Laubach Literacy of Ventura County will offer a two-day workshop to train volunteers to become English as a Second Language tutors for adults. The workshop will be from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sat., Oct. 27 and Nov. 3 in Camarillo. Directions will be provided at time of registration.
