Defends the Bible
This is in response to Chris Habecker's letter ("Objects to biblical drug intervention" in the Oct. 11 Thousand Oaks Acorn.
The reason so many teens have no self-confidence is that they learn early on that they evolved from nothing instead of being told they were created by a loving and forgiving God. That God wants the best for them and wants to help them. When this absolute truth is heard and accepted, there's no problem with self-confidence because their confidence is now in the supreme God who created their "self," and not just in their own "self."
Also, the Bible is not magic.
It is the living word of the living God and has power to solve any problem facing this generation and all the generations that follow.
Pastor Larson correctly stated that God's wisdom is superior to ours. Our so-called wisdom, limited as it is, breeds the type of erroneous thinking today.
Wonder why we have all these problems? We're not in control of anything, even if we think we are, God is in control. The only control we have is whether or not to choose to trust and believe in God, or not.
In the book of Proverbs 3:56 it reads "Trust in God completely and not your own understanding, put Him first and He will crown your efforts with success." This was written by Soloman, who was considered the wisest man who ever lived.
I have chosen to accept this truth. Dorothy Campagna Newbury Park
