     LUTHERAN CHILDREN'S CHOIR- The "Aisle Cruisers," a group of second- through sixth-grade singers at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, are led by director Steve Johnson-Egertson, who came from a musical family. Local grad starts his LDS mission
      Rudolph Dean Lang Jr. has been called to a two-year mission in Porto, Portugal for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will train for two months in the church's Missionary Training Center in Provo Utah and learn the Portuguese language before serving his mission.

Knitting in fellowship
     WENDY PIERRO/Acorn Newspapers MAGIC FINGERS- Cathy Howell of Westlake Village knits for the Prayer Shawl Ministries at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The group meets two days a month and makes baby blankets, lap blankets and shawls, and distributes them to people in the community who need comfort. The group has been providing knitted goods for about three years. Knitters vary in age; some are in their 20s while others are in their 90s.

CLU Founders Day Convocation
      California Lutheran University's Founders Day Convocation will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Fri., Oct. 19, in the Samuelson Chapel on the campus at 60 W. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks. The Rev. Mark S. Hanson, presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, will deliver the keynote address.
