Contain Clutter By Creating A Kids Playroom In A Snap

Do-it-yourself renovations are becoming more and more popular among home owners. Parents are upgrading and adding value to their home at every chance they get, but the kids are getting left behind. A playroom is a great way for parents to give a room back to their kids.

Children of all ages need a place they can be inspired and not feel restricted. "Creating a playroom is easier and more affordable than most parents think, but there are some things you should keep in mind," says Leslie Pigue, professional home interior designer with trafficMASTER.

When you're deciding how to create the playroom, consider allowing your kids to be an active part of the process. It is going to be their room and they are more likely to use it if they feel like it's special and they had a part in making it that way.

First look at the walls. If your walls are not painted, this is a cheap and easy way to begin your transformation. Choose a color scheme that is fun for the room, but also matches the home. Walls can be simply redone with colorful paint and accessories that will inspire children to be creative and explore their imaginations. Once you have picked your color scheme and purchased accessories that will stimulate your children's imaginations, you must then select safe and functional flooring.

trafficMASTER's active tile is a great option with it's unique puzzle piece design. You don't have to buy a giant flooring role and spend all day cutting and installing new flooring. trafficMASTER Modular Flooring offers an individual tiling system and installation is quick and easy. Clean your current floor and simply use the interlocking tiles to custom fit your area. They can easily be vacuumed or cleaned, but the best part is, if one gets damaged in any way, you simply replace the square and the entire area looks as good as new. This 100 percent recycled rubber flooring is also shock absorbent which helps protect children from falls and scruffs that inevitably come from playing.

Finally, to make sure that the playroom doesn't turn into one big mess, add shelving and other storage options. Large storage bins are a perfect place for stuffed animals or bigger items and shelving is great for books, games and other toys. Encourage children to only use one or two toys at a time and pick up after they are done playing.

"Creating a special space for your child is easy and can happen in as quickly as one weekend. Keep these steps in mind and you're both sure to enjoy your new playroom," says Pigue.

Active Tiles can be used to create not only children's playrooms, but also home offices and recreation rooms. For more information, log on to www.tmflooring.com or call (866) 380-6481. Or visit www.homedepot.com where trafficMASTER is sold exclusively.
