Rancho Potrero plan makes sense
The Save Open Space (SOS) ads in the Thousand Oaks Acorn regarding the Rancho Potrero plan hit well below the belt when they insinuate that the Conejo Recreation and Park District (CRPD) board isn't listening to residents.

Park district wants the best for residents
I wonder if I'm one of a silent majority who share a high desire to have the former Olympic Farms area become a wellplanned park? Such a park will add so much value to our community by making the area there more usable, accessible and enjoyable for so many.

Rancho Potrero plan a disaster
Why is the public angry with Conejo Recreation and Park District (CRPD) and the city about the Rancho Potrero conceptual plan? Let's count the reasons. First, no public input was obtained before the conceptual plan was created in 2005. Why do our elected officials come up with a plan before asking the people what they want?

HOA board ignored its homeowners
The Oct. 4 issue of the T.O. Acorn had letters from many area residents objecting to the proposed development of Rancho Potrero by Conejo Recreation and Park District.

Likes writer's ideas about T.O.
I wanted to say thank you to Ramaul Rush for his letter in the Thousand Oaks Acorn about having an elected mayor and voting for council members by district. Thank you, Ramaul. I agree with you 100 percent as a voter and a citizen here in T.O. We need people who care about issues and who do not take things personally.

Developers should step up to the plate on Kmart
I never thought of developers as philanthropists, but Conejo Valley is in great need of such people. As I read numerous letters to the Thousand Oaks Acorn concerning the former Kmart property, I ponder the dilemma in Conejo Valley concerning the lack of recreational opportunities for families, such as miniature golf courses, bowling alleys, skating rings,

Some HOA advice
Regarding articles on CC&Rs (covenants, conditions and restrictions) of homeowners associations, specifically with Dos Vientos Ranch, and letters that followed: As a real estate investor I've been a member of many HOAs, and some have been good, and some have been a horror story.

The time to save water is now
Do we really have to think about where the water comes from in our community? The answer is yes. During all these years of living in the Conejo Valley I have been blithely turning on the faucet thinking there was an endless supply of water at the other end and that it came from somewhere nearby.

Enthusiastic about adding fluoride
After receiving my notice of the upcoming fluoridation of the public water supply, I figured it would only be a matter of time before the anti-fluoridation folks pounced on the topic. What I didn't expect was to see an article ("Some oppose fluoridated water" in the Sept.

Amgen layoffs
I first heard about Amgen's downsizing in August, but read ing the Sept. 27 article it really began sinking in. Many of my friends have been employed by Amgen for years. I don't appreciate the way the news was broken to the employees. Many people have broken their backs to put the company and Thousand Oaks on the map.

Objects to biblical drug intervention
Mr. Larson, the Evfree high school pastor, aptly described some of the difficulties that teen agers face when growing up ("Build relationship with kids," T.O. Acorn letters Oct. 4). He offered to help parents and teenagers, but the help he offers appears to be particularly illsuited to the task.

Selfish objections to pavilion plan
After reading the replies of those opposed to the proposed pavilion, it's obvious that they're writing for very selfish reasons. I find it convenient that the Dos Vientos residents who write to complain drop the Dos Vientos Ranch from their letters and insert Newbury Park.
