Ten-year-old Darian Khabbaz, a fifthgrader at Madrona Elementary School in Thousand Oaks, recently completed the threeweek residential Summer Institute for the Gifted program at UCLA.

The program included courses in the humanities, sciences, math, visual and performing arts, and fitness and recreation.

Students in grades four through 11 are selected for the program based on high academic ability and achievement.
