In a recent New York Times article about GreenDimes (the for-profit company on a crusade to stop junk mail), founder Pankaj Shah uses a wide generality to attempt to make a point. Saying that "nobody" likes junk mail is a bit far-fetched. I like it, if it's targeted to me and pertains to me. More ... I was shocked and dismayed that members of the Oak Park Unified School District Wellness Council, which was formed to support the health of our children, publicly opposed the fluoridation of our water supply. It's important to note that this matter has never come before the council and these individuals were speaking as individuals. More ... It was interesting to read in the Sept. 13 issue of the T.O. Acorn that the board of the Lake Sherwood HOA granted a waiver to their CC&Rs (covenants, conditions and restrictions) by formally exempting a member from the association's pet restrictions. More ... I'm gratified to witness the growth, progress and beautification of the city of Thousand Oaks. Each project seems to be the fruition of serious thought and professional understanding of architectural design, color and landscaping, to enhance and accommodate existing structures and to visually unify the city. More ... It would be nice if fresh ideas could create a situation where residents would have an opportunity to vote for mayor and elect council members by district. More ... Any visitor to the UCLA Hospital is constantly reminded that their hospital ranks as "Best in West" or "No. 5 in the nation." The hospital has plastered its rating on its elevators and elsewhere. Don't believe the hype. I've had the unfortunate experience of being a patient back-to-back in these two hospitals. More ... I'd like the owners of the former Kmart building and land to open up their hearts and donate both to the city. I'll call them the "Miracle Makers," because they can cause a miracle to happen, and thousands of children and adults can benefit from having a roller and ice skating rink in T.O. More ...
