BILL SPARKES/Acorn Newspapers GRAB AND GO- Thousand Oaks' Shane Olivas hauls in an over-the-shoulder reception during a recent scrimmage at TOHS. Muir (0-0) at

Oaks Christian (1-0)

Outlook: The faces and names have changed, but if the first game of the season was any indication, Oaks Christian football hasn't skipped a beat.

In their first game without Jimmy Clausen, Marc Tyler and a host of other highly touted stars who've taken their games to the college level, the Lions steamrolled Lompoc, 49-14.

Quarterback Chris Potter beat Lompoc on the ground and through the air, scoring five total touchdowns.

The OCHS defense allowed 236 rushing yards and only 73 yards passing.

Oaks Christian hammered Muir 60-6 last year. Things should be a bit tougher in this matchup.

TOHS (0-0) at

Loyola (0-0)

Outlook: This game is being played Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. in Glendale.

The teams played in last year's season opener, with Loyola winning 30-12 en route to a 4-6 campaign. TOHS finished the year 7-4 overall.

Loyola travels to play at national power Concord De La Salle next weekend, so the possibility certainly exists that they could overlook the Lancers in this one.

TOHS junior running back John Lister has played extremely well during the offseason and could be poised for a breakout season. He should handle the ball early and often.

Mike Leibin will make his debut as Thousand Oaks' head coach.
