Listen to the plan before trashing Home Depot

We shouldn't turn a blind eye to the Home Depot. It's time to be realistic and seriously consider the benefits.

Who's going to fund a skating rink at the old Kmart? I've been a resident for 28 years and have seen the old skating rink fail. We already have one in the shopping center on T.O. Boulevard for use during the wintertime. It's less than a mile away.

The skating rink doesn't sound like a promising business plan. If it's unsuccessful, we'll be in the same boat we're in now--stuck with an abandoned business.

Why put this off any longer? Change is inevitable, and in the case of the Home Depot, change is healthy. Once all facts are addressed, why not welcome this dead shopping center once again becoming a source for jobs and economic activity?

Thousand Oaks should give businesses a fair chance to join our community. I urge all to be realistic, consider the facts without bias and let the process play out. It's the best way to plan the future of our city. Shaun Hanarahan Thousand Oaks
