Lambo swinging a hot bat in minor leagues

Newbury Park High graduate Andrew Lambo is having no trouble adjusting to life in the minor leagues.

Playing for the Gulf Coast League Dodgers, a rookie-ball affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Lambo was hitting .341 with five home runs and 28 RBI in his first 167 professional at-bats through Tuesday.

Over his last 10 games, Lambo, a left-handed outfielder, is batting .405 with 15 hits in 37 at-bats.

Lambo's batting average ranks fourth overall in the 16team GCL. Furthermore, his .966 OPS (onbase plus slugging percentage) is second in the league and his 36 runs scored are good for third on the leaderboard.

A fourth-round pick by the Dodgers during June's FirstYear Player Draft, Lambo was twice named Ventura County Player of the Year while attending NPHS. He also owns the school's all-time home run record, despite playing only two years as a Panther. - Stephen Dorman
