It's a pipe dream that hydrogen is a viable solution

Mr. Puls' letter extolling the virtues of using hydrogen is a gross distortion of its potential to replace hydrocarbons- - gas- - as a fuel for the car-crazy American public.

While I agree we should "stop wasting our efforts on ethanol and other fuels," hydrogen is no more an option for powering our cars, trucks and planes than is ocean water from Santa Monica Bay.

Only those that succumb to wishful thinking or stand to make millions of dollars are promoting hydrogen as a solution to global warming.

If your readers want the facts about hydrogen, they should search the web for "The Hydrogen Hoax" by Robert Zubrin.

It's ironic that the Acorn would print such a letter, where several pages later a Flex Your Power ad by the CPUC is responsibly promoting appropriate actions.

Mr. Puls seems to recognize that we really are facing a crisis of epic proportions. I'd like to have him as an ally in the struggle to set the planet back on a course of sustainability.

However, we must start with recognizing there are no easy solutions or magic potions. Steve Kane Thousand Oaks
