When Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda shows up to watch a baseball game between high school teenagers, it's a pretty big deal. That was the case Monday afternoon at Blair Field in Long Beach, where Lasorda arrived for the third game of a triple-header at the Area Code Games. More ... The late Rodney Dangerfield would've loved to play a round of golf with the Channel Islands Sharks. Dangerfield, who played the Al Czervik character who pulled a stereo out of his golf bag and blasted Kenny Loggins in the 1980 film "Caddyshack," would fit right in with the Sharks, a team playing in the fanfriendly National Golf League. More ... WHAT A VACATION- The Newbury Park boys' U-12 All-Stars completed a highly successful season with a championship in the Rainbow Tournament in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Rainbow title came on the heels of the team's North Valley Classic championship in Granada Hills. The Newbury Park squad completed its season with a 59-3-2 overall record. More ... Twelve-year-old Sivan Krems of Westlake competed in the United States Tennis Association's 12-and-under Zone Team Championships in Tucson, Ariz., winning all five of her singles matches and all of her doubles matches. Nineteen years after winning a gold medal for the United States Olympic volleyball team, Jeff Stork helped guide the Santa Monica Beach Volleyball Club to a gold medal at the Junior Olympics in Atlanta, Ga.
