Event to help middle schoolers

A fall garden/fashion show and wine tasting event is planned for 4 p.m. Sun., Aug. 19 in Newbury Park at 169 Newbury Lane. Guests can enjoy an afternoon of fun, fashion and friendship.

The ticket cost is $20 if purchased before Aug. 10.

After that, it's $25.

Proceeds will benefit Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), an organization that helps average to belowaverage middle school students so they can go to college.

A raffle featuring items from local merchants and restaurants is also planned.
