Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks gives quarter-million to causes, charities

The Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks, for the year ended June 30, 2007, contributed $125,000 to charities and other worthy causes.
Of this amount, $75,000 is earmarked for 41 organizations in the Conejo Valley area, $40,000 to Rotary International for its worldwide humanitarian efforts and $10,000 for scholarships in Thousand Oaks and surrounding communities.The major sources of funding come from the club's three major fundraisers.
A Chili Cookoff is held during Conejo Valley Days in April, a Wine and Art Festival in August and the Thousand Oaks Street Fair takes place in October.
Funds are also contributed from each of the club's 125 members who pledge a minimum of $100 a year to support charitities.
