Mark Monreal successfully defended his golfing championship at Sunset Hills Country Club in Thousand Oaks.

During the threeday tournament, Monreal posted scores of 66, 72 and 69 to capture the title by three strokes. His total score of 207 is believed to be one of the all-time best in club history.

This fall, Monreal will represent Sunset Hills at the annual Tournament of Club Champions in Palmdale. The event is hosted by the Southern California Golf Association.

The Champions bracket will feature club winners from all over the region who have a handicap of 2.4 or less. Monreal's handicap is 0.2.
