Conejo Valley Little League Juniors All-Stars rise up during a dark moment
      With heavy hearts, the Conejo Valley Little League Juniors AllStar team took to the field this past week and competed like champions. These young men, their coaches, parents and fans, were coping with the death of a close friend and teammate, 13-year-old James Street of Thousand Oaks. Street died following a skateboarding accident on July 4.

Golf invention becomes reality TV for local songwriter
      Her invention may not be as monumental as Benjamin Franklin's, Thomas Edison's or Henry Ford's, but Westlake Village resident Vicky Peterson is banking that her new idea can lead to prominence, too. Peterson is one of 103 competitors on the Golf Channel's new reality series "Fore Inventors Only," which premiered Tuesday.

Oaks Christian's Schlopy named to All-State First Team
      The 2007 All-State teams for baseball and softball have been released by CalHiSports.com. Making the All-State Softball First Team were Camarillo High senior pitcher Lindsey Dean and Oaks Christian senior Taylor Schlopy, a multipurpose selection.
