Absolutely opposed to new plan for T.O. Boulevard I own a business here in Thousand Oaks and have for 25 years. I've lived here for 35 years. I guess that makes me one of those people- "the certain element"- who need to be pushed aside so T.O. can "grow smartly." I'm physically sickened by the attitudes of people quoted in staff writer Nancy Needham's article ("T.O. Boulevard business owners hear about tradeoffs for 'smart growth'" in the June 21 Thousand Oaks Acorn). Honestly, for once in my life, I don't even know what to say. People come to this town because they want a certain lifestyle and environment. They invest their money here in homes and schools and businesses. No one can possibly say that Thousand Oaks is what it was three short decades ago; everything changes. But we've managed to hold on to that town feeling. Thousand Oaks stands for something. It's one thing to have developers who don't care anything about our city to attempt to gain support for themselves- and showing disrespect for the people of this town while doing it. But it's very disheartening to think that our city manager is right in there with them. It might be good for Scott Mitnick to remember that those city coffers he thinks he controls are being filled by me and my neighbors. Terri Nigro Thousand Oaks |
