Agoura Hills dance students head for New York City

Twenty-eight competitive dancers, ages 7 to 17, with the Agoura Hills Dance and Performing Arts Center have qualified to compete next month in the national championships of the New York City Dance Alliance. After regional qualification and more than a year of fundraising, the students are getting ready to travel cross-country to put their best foot forward in the competition that attracts dancers from throughout the United States.

They will showcase their numbers with other Agoura Hills Dance students at the premiere of "Star 2007 Illusions," with performances at 2 and 7 p.m. Sat., June 30 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.com or (805) 5838700, or at the box office, (805) 449-2787. The studio's ballet presentation of "Alice in Wonderland" will be 2 and 7 p.m. Sun., June 24 also at the Civic Arts Plaza.

Members of the competitive dance team are Katelyn and Krista Andreassen, Olivia Bown, Brigita and Eric Budginas, Madison Clark, Sierra Egan, Emma Farrow, Stephanie Goretsky, Brenna Grabowski, Alex Hagen, Becca Hirsch, Enna Ikuta, Ari Imazu, Carly Melber, Charlotte and Emily Merrill, Quinn Miller, Katrina Mitchell, Sophia Rowland, Jamie Samel, Rachel Schwartz, Hannah Sprague, Mary Truesdale, Melissa Wabby, Michaella Yarnell, and Julia and Madeline Zimring.
