Ventura County display in Sacramento gets a facelift

Ventura County has updated its shadowbox display in the state Capitol. The display, which is made up of various elements that highlight Ventura County, was unveiled in Sacramento on June 14, with local and state dignitaries in attendance. Ventura County Supervisor Kathy Long conducted the unveiling ceremony.

"We're so proud to have this beautiful design that reflects what we treasure about our county on display in our state Capitol annex," said Long. "Our county has so much to offer in terms of agriculture, economic vitality, scenic beauty and a high quality of life, and we're thrilled to be able to share it with visitors."

The new three-panel design is a snapshot of Ventura County, including the history of how it was shaped by its early economy and the industries that drive the current economy, such as agriculture and biotech.

The display includes images by local photographers of the area's natural beauty, amenities, museums and cultural centers.

The Ventura County Board of Supervisors partnered with the Economic Development Collaborative-Ventura County to create the new design.

Each of California's 58 counties has a shadowbox display in the hallways of the Capitol building, near the governor's office.
