Visiting pastor from Tanzania leads worship
Esther Ngumuo from Tanzania, currently a visiting pastor at Ascension Lutheran Church in Thousand Oaks, will share her perspectives on global church outreach at the worship services on July 7 and 8.
She'll lead an African liturgy worship titled "Listen, God Is Calling" at the 8 and 9:30 a.m. services Sun., July 8.
Additional services are planned for 6 p.m., Sat., July 7 and 11 a.m., Sun., July 8.
The public is invited.
Ngumuo recently received her master's degree in theological development and evangelism from Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. Her master's degree project was based on her ministry to Tanzanian orphan children with HIV/AIDS.
Before attending Wartburg Seminary, Ngumuo was a pastor for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania.
Throughout June and July, Ngumuo will be sharing her experiences at the Tanzanian church while participating actively in the life of the Ascension congregation.
When she returns to her country for assignment with the church, her goal is to help orphans with HIV/AIDS to receive medical assistance and help with education in small living/learning homes that she would establish.
The church is at 1600 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. For more information, call (805) 495-0406.
