Roger J. Curtis lost his life in a crash on Monday at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks when a utility cart he was driving crashed into a curb and overturned at around 12:15 p.m.

According to a police report, the preliminary investigation indicated the 59yearold Simi Valley resident died from injuries suffered in the cart accident. Neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be a factor, police said. Curtis' wife, Linda, described him as a loving husband and father.

He is survived by his son, Robby Curtis, of Orange County; daughter, Christine Marshall, of Atlanta; and grandchildren, Christopher Marshall, 10, and Evan Marshall, 7.

Curtis loved to listen to classic rock music and go camping, Linda Curtis said.

"We'd spent the weekend camping at McGrath Park in Oxnard," she said.

The couple attended Our Savior Lutheran Church in Simi Valley and have lived in Simi Valley for 29 years.

Anyone who would like to honor Roger Curtis is asked to make a donation in his name to the Ventura County Humane Society. The CLU employee loved animals, his wife said.
