      Twenty-five local students received Youth Citizenship awards from the Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks. The awards were based on submissions by school principals, counselors and teachers noting the students' school and community service and personal characteristics.

      Oaks Christian High School student Nicholas L. Pann of Westlake Village has been selected for membership in the National Society of High School Scholars. Membership in the society entitles students to a variety of benefits, including scholarship opportunities, academic competitions, free events, resources, publications and participation in educational programs.

      Local students received awards at the California State Science Fair this month in Exposition Park, including the top award for the junior division. The students qualified for the state competition at the Ventura County Science Fair in April.
