Local students win National Merit Scholarships
      The names of some of the high school seniors who've won National Merit $2,500 Scholarships were announced by officials of National Merit Scholarship Corporation. These Merit Scholar designees were chosen from a talent pool of approximately 15,000 finalists in the 2007 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Young artists receive awards and display their works
      Chloe Weiller of Thousand Oaks High School won a fourthplace prize of $100 in the 2007 Tamima Al-Awar Memorial Scholarship Program sponsored by Focus on the Masters and the Ventura County Arts Council. Erica M. Honles of Camarillo Young At Art received honorable mention.

Party in the park
     PAINTING THE TOWN- Agoura Hills resident Savannah Sharp, 3, watches Aspen Elementary School kindergarten student James Lilley, 5, paint a cardboard city "Box Town" during the "Stand for Children Day" Party in the Park at Conejo Creek Park North in Thousand Oaks on Sunday. The event, hosted by the Conejo Valley Day Care Association and Conejo Recreation and Park District, featured face painting, a rock-climbing wall, train rides and a wildlife show.
