United Methodists to celebrate their history The United Methodist Church of Thousand Oaks will celebrate its long history in the Conejo Valley at the 9:30 and 11:15 a.m. worship services on Sun., June 10. The services will include talks, music and refreshments. Visitors are welcome. The congregation voted to incorporate on Dec. 31, 1930, but had been meeting long before then. The church met in ranch houses of the 1870s and then in a variety of sites in the Old Town in the early 1900s. The first church building waconstructed in 1938 on Thousand Oaks Boulevard at Crescent WayThe structure now serves as thConejo Valley Masonic CenterThe congregation was originally named the Thousand Oaks Community Church until the members voted to become Methodisin 1954. The congregation moved to its current site on Janss Road in the early 1960s. After three building phases, the sanctuary was completed and consecrated in June 1987. The church is at 1000 E.
