Grants given for county healthcare

The Livingston Memorial Foundation of Westlake Village has presented grants totaling more than $396,000 to 32 Ventura County nonprofit organizations for medical and healthrelated issues during its 2006-07 grant year, which ended April 30.

Some of the agencies which received grants include the following.

+Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association Health Corporation: $135,500 to provide subsidized care for Ventura County residents in need.

+Westminster Free Clinic: $55,000 to direct medical support and supplies.

+Interface Children Family Services: $25,000 to support the children's resource program.

+St. John's Healthcare Foundation: $20,000 to help underwrite the cost of the "Shots for Kids" program of immunizations for medically underserved children.

+Ventura County Medical Resource Foundation: $20,000 to support the cost of a public health nurse and medical equipment supplies in connection with senior health screenings.

+Arc Ventura County Inc.: $12,000 to help pay the cost of a registered nurse to assist and monitor the health of clients who reside in the four care homes and of those clients who participate in the adult community-based programs.

+Southeast Ventura County YMCA: $12,000 to help fund hydrotherapy pool programs for the disabled in Ventura County.

The board of directors of the foundation includes Dr. Charles M. Hair, Marcia Donlon, Walter Hoffman, W. Cloyce Huff, Richard Loft, Laura K. McAvoy and Dr. John Walters.
