The Ventura County Area Agency on Aging is seeking applications from individuals interested in serving on its advisory council. The purpose of the council is to guide the direction of senior services and programs in the county.

New appointments are being considered for two-year terms beginning immediately.

The deadline for submitting applications is Tues., June 5.

Victoria Jump, director of the agency, said the organization is seeking applications from senior citizens as well as other interested persons. "By law, the advisory council is required to have a majority of its membership 60 years of age or older and reflect the economic, geographic and ethnic composition of the county.

"Older adults and minority representatives are strongly encouraged to apply," said Jump.

The advisory council meets regularly throughout the year. According to Jump, the busiest period for the council is late March through May as that is when the council determines the service areas it wishes to see implemented and reviews all proposals submitted to the agency for annual funding.

To apply, call (805) 4777300 for a copy of the one-page application, or download the application at www.ventura.org/ publications.aspx.
