Editorial makes an unnecessary prediction

The editorial in your April 5 edition makes a convincing and articulate case for the opening of Home Depot on Hampshire Road.

Unfortunately you weaken the impact of your editorial with your contention that "The usual NIMBY crowd will claim that the Home Depot will destroy life as we know it. They'll tell us that the sky is falling and that the Thousand Oaks City Council lives in the hip pocket of developers."

However, you fail to identify any of these "NIMBY people" or to substantiate your prediction with any examples of anybody who has ever made any such statements.

May I respectfully suggest that you limit yourself to castigating people for what they have actually said and done, not for what you think they might say or do. Brian Pritchard Westlake Village
