Cisco's to open another restaurant in Oak Park
      After a two-year search Bob Wilson has finally found a new home for another Cisco's. The first Mexican eatery, which burned down in Westlake Village in March 2005, will reopen at 686 Lindero Canyon Road in Oak Park. The family operates another Cisco's on Avenida de Los Arboles in T.O.

T.O. mayor puts on a different hat for Los Angeles Fire Department

CLU pool ready for competition
      Many years ago, California Lutheran College built a small pool around which officials would gather to barbecue and talk about how they were going to build a great university. Today CLU is a larger university that just opened a giant pool where students can compete in diving, swimming and water polo.

Democrats to take early look at presidential race
      The Democratic Club of Conejo Valley will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wed., March 14 at the Cameron Center, 288 Greenmeadow Drive, Thousand Oaks. The meeting will feature Presidential Politicking: caucuses will be formed based on presidential candidate preference. After 30 minutes, the groups will try to convince "opponents" to support their candidate.

Pool to be dedicated on March 24
      California Lutheran University will dedicate the Samuelson Aquatics Center in a public ceremony at 2 p.m. Sat., March 24. Three-time gold medalist and Olympic Hall of Famer Rowdy Gaines, once considered "the fastest swimmer on the planet," will serve as master of ceremonies. Gaines won three gold medals in the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.

Convenient access site for disabled Arts Plaza patrons to get the ax
      Access to the Civic Arts Plaza may become more difficult for fragile seniors and handicapped people so that those who can walk easily will have a more beautiful walkway. It appears as if theater patrons will no longer be able to drop loved ones off at the circular driveway outside the theater once a pedestrian plaza is completed in that area.

Unstoppable Lorrin Kain inspires others
      A medically fragile Thousand Oaks girl, who communicates by blinking her eyes, recently competed in the Miss Preteen Pasadena competition, where she was embraced by the other contestants. In her wheelchair 12year-old Lorrin Kain took the stage and was presented to the judges.

Tree falls, but not from rainfall
      TREE COMES DOWN- At about 10 a.m. Sunday morning a tall pine tree fell across Bowfield Avenue in Westlake Village. The toppled tree blocked the entire street and soon attracted a crowd. Police and city of Thousand Oaks crew responded quickly and had the entire tree cut up and removed within an hour. The windy weather spoiled what might have been a perfect weekend.

Jr. Gardeners win awards
      Three local youths won awards at the recent Junior Gardeners Table Setting Show held at the Timber School house at the Stagecoach Inn in Newbury Park. The theme, "You Are Invited, Ventura County Style" gave the young designers opportunities to create table settings with fresh and dried flowers in various formats.

      Eclipse Printing & Design Inc. will produce the third annual United Way Spirit of Community Impact program guide for the event on Sat., June 23 at Rancho Temescal in Piru. Women's Club will get the jump on St. Patrick's Day
      The Westlake Women's Club general meeting and luncheon, featuring dancers of the Greenway Academy of Irish Dance, will be at 10 a.m. Tues., March 13 at the Westlake Village Inn, 31943 Agoura Road, Westlake Village. The program will follow the lunch and will be a celebration of Irish heritage presented by student dancers at the academy.

Global Volunteers teach English, share culture
      Jamie Burtzloff of Thousand Oaks traveled as part of a Global Volunteers team to Queretaro, Mexico, for a week in November. Her assignment was to teach conversational English to students at the Technological University of Queretaro.

Monarchs Gymnastics team wins big
      Monarchs National Gymnastics Training Center was represented at the 2007 All Olympia Invitational Feb. 10 and 11 with a six-member Level 7 girl's optional gymnastics team. The meet was held in the John Wooden Center at UCLA in Los Angeles.
